The Chief of Staff to Ogun Governor, Chief Tolu Odebiyi has denied the news of his boss asking him to resign over his refusal to decamp to the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP).
In a statement released earlier today Chief Tolu Odebiyi said, he has been undated with locals from concern members of the public over the report published by Newsacross.com yesterday.
The statement reads:
Governor Amosun never asked me to resign- Tolu Odebiyi.
Over the last 24 hours, I have been inundated with calls regarding the online report regarding a purported resignation order handed to me by His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
My initial reaction was to ignore the report however due to the fact that we are in the political period where  fake and unsubstantiated news thrives if not corrected, I would like to state categorically that at no time did His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun FCA CON ask me to resign my position as his Chief of staff.
My position as the Chief of Staff to His Excellency mandates that we discuss on a constant basis, issues relating to the State which includes political matters and we will continue to do so in the best interest of the good people of Ogun State.
I would like to thank everyone most sincerely for their show of concern which testifies to our collective desire for peace and progress in our State.
My gratitude goes to His Excellency for his continued support as we move Ogun State to greater heights.
Thank you”.
While Chief Odebiyi did not confirm or deny the request that he drops the Ogun West senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he also kept must on whether he actually held a mee IBB with Governor Amosun yesterday during which the incident reports ed by our correspondent occurred.
He merely said: “My position as the Chief of Staff to His Excellency mandates that we discuss on a constant basis, issues relating to the State which includes political matters and we will continue to do so in the best interest of the good people of Ogun State.”
He also did not deny our report that he, like Senator Lekan Mustapha, got the APC ticket on the insistence of the governorship candidate of the APC, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
In recent times, many of Amosun’s loyalists have openly expressed unwillingness to dump APC for another party.

They include the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuwape, Senator Lekan Mustapha, Hon. Yinka Mafe, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, Otunba Kunle Texaco, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, and most of the Council Chairmen.
