Tragedy struck yesterday night when a speeding truck killed three members of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) in front of their village. The incident has sparked widespread anger and protests among residents and members of the union who blocked roads leading to neighboring towns in a show of frustration over recurring accidents caused by reckless driving.

The victims, all skilled technicians, were reportedly going about their daily activities when the accident occurred. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the truck driver allegedly losing control due to excessive speed.

Confirming the incident, the chairman of NATA expressed deep sorrow and called on the government to intervene urgently. He highlighted that overspeeding by truck drivers has claimed over seven lives in the area this year alone, demanding immediate action to prevent further loss of life.

“The government must come to our aid. These truck drivers have turned our roads into death traps. We cannot continue to lose our members and loved ones to such preventable accidents,” the chairman stated.

As tensions remain high, residents are urging authorities to enforce stricter traffic regulations and install speed control measures on the road. The community hopes that this tragic incident will serve as a wake-up call for the government to prioritize road safety and protect lives.
