IPOKIA – October 29, 2025 – The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Avoseh Johnson Akohomeh, has issued a strong call for enhanced healthcare delivery across the council area. He emphasised that this goal hinges on renewing synergy among key stakeholders in the local health sector.

The council boss made the declaration on Tuesday, October 28th, during an extraordinary meeting held with Ward Development Committee Chairmen and Ward Supervisors in his office.

Hon. Avoseh stated that the primary aim of the meeting was to formulate effective strategies for managing the local government’s health facilities. He clarified the distinct roles of the stakeholders, noting that Ward Supervisors are government officials statutorily responsible for overseeing health centres, while the Chairmen of the Ward Development Committees provide humanitarian and selfless service on health matters.

Addressing the issue of health centre funding, Hon. Avoseh was unequivocal, stating that funds are specifically earmarked for the upkeep of the centres and must not be diverted. He revealed that a strict business plan has been developed for the fund and has instructed planners to prioritise the critical and immediate needs of the health facilities.

The Chairman also used the opportunity to laud health workers for their commitment and urged them to continue attending to patients with tenderness. He appealed to residents to seek early treatment at health centres for their ailments.

The meeting was declared open by the Health Secretary of Ipokia Local Government Health Authority, Dr Akindele Adebayo.

In a related address, the Local Government Health Educator, Mallam Yussuf Moshood Olayinka, advised pregnant women in the area to utilise the services available at their community health centres. He also urged the public to ensure their children are immunised and to regularly check their diabetes status.
