In a gesture of appreciation and solidarity, the Executive Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. Dr. Folasade Adeyemo, on Tuesday hosted the spouses of the council’s political appointees and distributed special end-of-year packages to them.
The event, which took place at the Odeda Local Government Secretariat, saw Dr. Adeyemo welcome a high-powered delegation led by the wife of the Vice Chairman, Mrs. Mutiat Nosiru Adigun. The visit, which was initiated by chairman Adeyemo turned into a moment of recognition and encouragement for the often-unsung contributions of political spouses.
During her address, the Chairman underscored the indispensable role spouses play in governance, describing them as the “essential backbone” that enables their husbands to serve the public effectively.
“The journey of service to our people is a collective one,” Dr. Adeyemo stated. “While your husbands are on the frontlines implementing policies and driving development, you provide the necessary emotional, moral, and domestic stability. I charge you to continue in this vital role. Your understanding and encouragement are civic contributions that directly impact the success of our administration’s agenda for Odeda.”
Beyond acknowledging their supportive roles, Dr. Adeyemo charged the women to see themselves as community ambassadors and role models. She encouraged them to leverage their positions to inspire other women, mentor the younger generation, and advocate for civic participation across the local government’s wards.
“You are not just wives; you are leaders by association and role models in your own right,” she continued. “Be exemplars of integrity and compassion. Together, we can strengthen not only our homes but the entire fabric of Odeda society.”
In a highlight of the event, Dr. Adeyemo presented end-of-year packages to the spouses as a token of the administration’s gratitude for their steadfast support throughout the year.
Responding on behalf of the delegation, Mrs. Mutiat Nosiru Adigun expressed profound gratitude for the Chairman’s hospitality, counsel, and generosity.
“We are deeply honoured by this audience and inspired by your leadership,” Mrs. Adigun said. “We accept your charge wholeheartedly. We pledge to be stronger pillars for our husbands and active partners in the progress of Odeda. We will work to support your vision and ensure that the positive impact of this administration is felt in every home.”
