……Otunba Alowonle, Market Leaders Express Gratitude, Recall Previous Abandonment

Sagamu – Residents and leaders in the Simawa community have expressed commendation for the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Olamilekan Solomon (Yayi), representing Ogun West, for resuming construction on the crucial Simawa High Court road.

The praise was led by an APC chieftain in the area, Otunba Nurudeen Alowonle, who addressed journalists on behalf of the community. He highlighted the history of the project, noting it was initially started by Senator Gbenga Daniel of Ogun East but was abruptly abandoned after only a nominal stretch was completed.

“We are profoundly grateful to our listening Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and our dedicated Senator, Olamilekan Solomon Yayi, for heeding our calls,” stated Otunba Alowonle. “This road is a vital artery for our community, leading to a High Court and major markets. For years, we watched in dismay as the project begun by Senator Daniel stalled after just about 10 meters. The contrast in commitment is clear, and we applaud this administration for prioritizing our welfare and infrastructure.”

The sentiment was echoed by key figures from the local trading hubs. Mrs. Bukola Adebayo, a prominent trader from the Eweoloja and Simawa market axis, emphasized the project’s economic impact.

“As someone whose livelihood depends on moving goods and customers accessing the market, this road completion is a answered prayer,” said Mrs. Adebayo. “The previous poor state was a huge burden. We thank Governor Abiodun and Senator Yayi for this intervention. It shows they understand the needs of the common people and the importance of commerce in Simawa.”

Similarly, Mrs. Yetunde Ajiboso, another leader within the Simawa Market association, praised the move for its social and safety benefits.

“Beyond commerce, this road affects daily life—access to the court, schools, and homes. The previous abandonment posed safety risks and inconvenienced everyone,” Mrs. Ajiboso noted. “We were surprised when work stopped earlier, but now we are filled with relief and appreciation. This collaborative effort between the state government and our senator is what true representation looks like.”

The Simawa High Court road project has now become a point of political distinction, with the current efforts by the Abiodun-Yayi partnership being contrasted against the earlier abandonment. Community leaders confirm that work has recommenced in earnest, bringing hope for improved connectivity and economic activity in the area.
