ABEOKUTA – The National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Dayo Israel, on Monday visited Ogun State to bolster the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration drive, commending local efforts and advocating for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Dr Israel was received by a delegation of Ogun State APC youth leaders, led by the Odeda local government youth leader, Comrade Timothy Odedina alongside local government youth leaders and the Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The visit, which included stops at Ward 4 (Keesi) in Abeokuta South and Ward 11 in Abeokuta North Local Government Areas, was marked by high mobilisation and impressive registration turnout.
Dr Israel was welcomed by a delegation of Ogun State youth leaders, including:
· Comrade Molik Soneye, Youth Leader, Obafemi Owode Local Government.
· Comrade Kabiru Odedairo, Youth Leader, Abeokuta South Local Government.
· Comrade Solomon Akibo, Youth Leader, Abeokuta North Local Government.
Also part of the entourage were Senior Assistants to Governor Dapo Abiodun: Dr Kehinde Ololade (SA on Health) and Comrade Olamide Lawal on Youth Development.
During the tour, Dr Israel lauded the wards for achieving a “remarkable 70-80% registration rate,” attributing the success to effective grassroots mobilisation.
“Today is a very special day to us because the national youth leader has counted us worthy to identify with us,” said Dr Ololade, who described the visit as a direct effort to encourage registration and acknowledge the ward’s progress.
In his address, Dr Israel positioned the Tinubu administration as a “change maker,” deserving of a second term due to its commitment to youth inclusion and economic reforms.
“There is nobody else on the ballot who has done as much for the youths as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Israel stated. He highlighted the appointment of young people to ministerial and executive roles as evidence of inclusion, citing his own position as a product of that policy.
He acknowledged the initial hardship caused by reforms like the fuel subsidy removal but compared the process to the early days of Nigeria’s telecoms revolution, which eventually led to greater stability and affordability. “It starts tough, but with time it stabilises and benefits the people,” he explained.
The National Youth Leader also revealed that the APC’s nationwide e-registration has captured over seven million new members, providing data to better understand and engage the party’s expanding youth base.
The Ogun youth leaders, speaking through the delegation, pledged continued support for the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections, thanking Governor Dapo Abiodun for his consistent support. The visit is part of a broader mobilisation tour across Ogun State, following engagements in Ogun West and preceding planned visits to Sagamu and other parts of Ogun East.
