The Ogun Central Peace Initiative Committee (PIC) has honoured the Chairman of the Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Ogun State chapter, Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, with its prestigious Pillar of Peace Award.

The recognition, which celebrates Sokoya’s dedication to peacebuilding and community development, was conferred on Tuesday during a ceremony held at the AMORAN State Office. The event drew members of the committee and other stakeholders who gathered to witness the presentation of the award.
Presenting the award plaque, the Chairman of the Ogun Central PIC, Comrade Akeem Abioro, praised Otunba Sokoya for his consistent moral and financial support for the committee’s initiatives. He noted that the AMORAN chairman has been instrumental in strengthening the committee’s operations and advancing its core mandate of fostering peace, unity, and social stability across the Ogun Central Senatorial District.
According to Abioro, Sokoya’s contributions have moved beyond symbolic gestures. He emphasised that the AMORAN leader’s unwavering backing has enabled the committee to execute its programs effectively and sustain its advocacy against cultism and other social vices.
“Otunba Sokoya has demonstrated uncommon dedication to the peace agenda. His support has helped us function more effectively and achieve measurable progress in our mission,” Abioro stated.
In his response, Otunba Sokoya expressed gratitude to the executive members of the Peace Initiative Committee for recognising him as worthy. He described the award as both humbling and motivating and assured the committee of his continued partnership in promoting peace and harmony in the region.
Sokoya acknowledged the impact of the committee’s interventions in restoring calm and strengthening unity across communities in Ogun Central, urging members not to relent in their efforts.
“Peace remains the foundation for development. I encourage you to keep the torch burning and remain steadfast until your vision of a peaceful and united society is fully realised,” he said.
