SAGAMU — The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isote Ward 12, Sagamu Local Government, Ogun State, has publicly disclaimed the membership of Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who represents Ogun East, stating that he is not a registered member of their ward.
The declaration was made by the Ward Chairman, Olusegun Olusiji, in a 56-minute video recorded today and monitored by our correspondent which we believe was recorded at their party’s secretariat. The statement comes in response to a visit by the senator to the ward on December 16, 2025.
In his address, Olusiji clarified the circumstances of the visit, stating, “Otunba Gbenga Daniel and his entourage appeared at our ward meeting unannounced. I wish to state categorically that he, OGD, is no longer a member of our Ward 12, Sagamu LG APC. From what I know, he has been suspended from the Party from his original ward, which is Ward 4, Sagamu APC.”
“Since I became chairman, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has not attended any ward meeting here and has not been part of our activities,” Olusiji stated. “I was surprised to see him arrive with Police and Army personnel yesterday.”
The chairman expressed disappointment over the use of images from the visit, which he claims misrepresented the event. He emphasised that the senator’s presence should not be interpreted as an endorsement or recognition by the ward executives.
Olusiji further advised the senator to regularise his status with the party, saying, “I want to advise Otunba Gbenga Daniel to please make sure he clears his suspension before coming to our ward again.”
The statement highlights ongoing internal dynamics within the APC in Sagamu, as the party leadership in Ward 12 seeks to clarify its records and assert procedural compliance. No immediate response has been issued by Senator Daniel or his office regarding the allegations.
As of press time, there has been no public response from Senator Gbenga Daniel or his media team regarding the specific allegations of suspension and ward impersonation levelled by the Ward 12 chairman.
