Moruf Musa, a former Majority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, has been released by his abductors following his kidnapping on Tuesday night. The incident occurred in the Ibiade community of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
Musa, who served in the State Assembly from 2007 to 2011, was reportedly seized at approximately 7 p.m. while observing Muslim prayers at a mosque situated on his property.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed imobilisedilized resources to secure his freedom. In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said, “The alleged kidnapping of Hon. Musa Moruf in Ibiade is known to the Command. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit has been deployed, and security measures have been activated.”
According to a source within the community, the former lawmaker put up a significant struggle during the abduction. “He allegedly battled his kidnappers for more than 20 minutes, attracting the attention of locals,” the source reported.
Details regarding the circumstances of his release or whether a ransom was paid have not been officially disclosed. The police have urged the public to remain calm and await further official updates as investigations continue.
