Ibadan – Chief Omololu Olunloyo, former Governor of Oyo State and prominent traditional titleholder, has passed away at the age of 89, just days before his 90th birthday.
The nonagenarian, who held the chieftaincy titles of Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife, died in the early hours of Sunday.
His death was confirmed in a statement by Barrister Oladapo Ogunwusi, a former Editor of the *Nigerian Tribune*.
Chief Olunloyo, a seasoned administrator and mathematician, served as Governor of Oyo State from October to December 1983 under the National Party of Nigeria (NPN). He was also a former Minister of Health and made significant contributions to politics and traditional leadership in Yorubaland.
Details of his burial arrangements will be announced by the family.
