ADO-ODO/OTA – The Leader of the Ado-Odo/Ota Legislative Council, Hon. Mutairu Gbadamosi, is at the centre of a shocking scandal involving allegations of financial misappropriation, physical assault on a fellow lawmaker, and the use of armed thugs to silence opposition at a public event.

This newspaper can exclusively reveal the disturbing details of the incident, which unveils a severe breakdown of order and accountability within the local government’s leadership.

The Birthday Party Turned Battlefield

The crisis erupted today at the birthday celebration of Mrs. Bimbo Alaraba, the Supervisor for Women Affairs. Witnesses report that shortly after his arrival, Hon. Gbadamosi was confronted by the Honourable Member representing Ado-Odo Ward 1, Hon. Akapo Oladunjoye, over serious allegations of fund misappropriation.

Rather than address the accusations, Hon. Gbadamosi, a certified accountant (ACA, ACIB), allegedly responded with brute force. Eyewitnesses describe a scene where he physically assaulted Hon. Oladunjoye, grabbing him and throwing punches as other guests looked on in horror.

“It was chaotic and disgraceful,” an anonymous attendee told our correspondent. “Two other councillors rushed in to separate them, pleading with Gbadamosi to stop. But he was enraged, shouting that his authority was absolute and could not be challenged.”

The Summoning of Thugs

The situation escalated from a heated political dispute into a potentially criminal affair when Hon. Gbadamosi reportedly made several phone calls during the altercation. Minutes later, a group of suspected thugs stormed the venue.

Their target was clear: they proceeded to brutalize Hon. Oladunjoye and other legislators who had attempted to intervene, effectively shutting down the celebratory event and spreading fear among the attendees.

This alarming claim of premeditated violence is supported by a leaked internal document from the Legislative Council, which our reporters have reviewed, alluding to the leader’s alleged propensity for using intimidation tactics.

A Wall of Silence

At the heart of the conflict are grave allegations of financial impropriety against the Council Leader. The nature and scale of the alleged misappropriation remain unclear, as efforts to reach Hon. Gbadamosi for comment have been futile. His known telephone lines were switched off and remained unreachable for hours after the incident.

The silence from his office raises critical questions about transparency and governance in the local council. Residents are left wondering if their elected officials are engaged in violent power struggles instead of public service.

Implications and Fallout

This incident exposes a dangerous culture of impunity and violence festering within the local government. The alleged actions of the Council Leader—a man entrusted with public funds and the legislative well-being of the community—point to a severe abuse of power.

Calls for an immediate investigation by the Ogun State Police Command and the state government are growing. Community leaders and civil society organizations are demanding answers, accountability, and justice for the assaulted lawmakers and the constituents they represent.

This is a developing story. We will continue to follow it closely and provide updates.
