ABEOKUTA– Honourable Farouk Akintunde, a Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reinforced his commitment to grassroots welfare by extending his annual festive generosity to All Progressives Congress (APC) party stakeholders across all 15 wards of Abeokuta South Local Government.

The gesture, carried out as part of his long-standing tradition, provided significant relief and empowerment to the party’s rank-and-file, just days after he assumed a new, critical state assignment.
Hon. Akintunde, who is highly respected within the Egba political landscape and serves as the President of the influential Lisabi Elite Club of Abeokuta, ensured that the distribution was both wide-ranging and impactful. The carefully curated packages aimed at providing both sustenance and financial support to the hardworking party executives and members at the ward level.
This consistent and annual exercise demonstrates Hon. Akintunde’s belief in nurturing the political base—a principle he has upheld for many years, earning him immense goodwill in his home local government.
The initiative was met with appreciation from the party leadership, who highlighted the morale boost the support provides. Comrade Kabiru Odedairo, the influential Abeokuta South Local Government Youth Leader, praised Hon. Akintunde for his unwavering dedication to the grassroots.
> “On behalf of all the ward chairmen and the entire party structure in Abeokuta South, we want to profoundly thank the Honourable Farouk Akintunde for this timely and valuable gesture. He is one leader who never forgets the people who work tirelessly on the ground,” Comrade Odedairo stated. “This is not just about the rice or the cash; it is the consistent demonstration of care and recognition. It strengthens our faith and commitment to the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun. We pray that the Almighty continues to elevate and grant him success in all his new responsibilities.”
The distribution comes shortly after Hon. Akintunde’s strategic redeployment last week Thursday. He transitioned from his former position as Chairman of the Ogun State Taskforce on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement to a key role within the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA).
OGWAMA is the agency under the Ogun State Ministry of Environment tasked with regulating and managing waste disposal, promoting cleanliness, and enforcing environmental policies across the state. Its mandate includes improving waste collection efficiency, driving non-tax revenue generation, fostering public awareness, and forging productive partnerships with Private Sector Participants (PSPs) to achieve a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable environment in Ogun State.
His transfer is widely seen as a strategic move by the state government to inject his proven experience in enforcement and compliance into the critical area of waste management, reinforcing the state’s drive for a cleaner environment and enhanced public health.
