Ipokia- The Executive Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, popularly known as Cornerstone, today welcomed the Assistant Corps Commander (ACC) Charles Kayode Daramola, Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS 2.26 Idiroko Unit Command, during a courtesy visit at the Local Government Secretariat.
During the meeting, Hon. Avoseh commended the FRSC for its efforts in promoting road safety and assured ACC Daramola of his administration’s commitment to supporting road safety initiatives. He pledged continued collaboration with the FRSC to enhance traffic management within the council area. The Chairman also emphasized the need for a licensed processing Centre within the local government to ease accessibility for residents.
Hon. Avoseh further stressed the importance of reorienting FRSC personnel in the Idiroko Unit to ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws while fostering peaceful coexistence in the area.
In his remarks, ACC Charles Kayode Daramola explained that the visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the FRSC and the local government on road safety and traffic management. He highlighted critical challenges, including the absence of a Driver’s License Centre in the council area, and sought the Chairman’s support to address these issues. ACC Daramola also expressed the FRSC’s commitment to public enlightenment and road user education to improve safety standards.
The Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr Emmanuel Pogbe, delivered the vote of thanks, urging the FRSC to expedite the establishment of a Drivers’ License Centre in Ipokia town for the benefit of residents.
The meeting was attended by key local government officials, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Olufunmilayo Grace Okewole; the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Babajide Johnson Olushola; the Director General of Services and Administration, Mr Adeogun Abiodun; and the Head of Information, Education, and Sports Department, Mrs Olumide Esther O.
The visit underscores the ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and traffic management in Ipokia Local Government, with both parties expressing optimism for a fruitful partnership.
