A detailed police account has revealed how popular social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, allegedly orchestrated a scheme involving a falsified medical report to avoid a police interview concerning cyberbullying allegations.
According to a press release issued by the Ogun State Police Command on Monday, the sequence of events began when Onajobi, known online as @justadetoun, was invited for an interview on January 2nd, 2026. The interview was to address allegations that she had used her platforms to publish false accusations against the Ogun State Government and to bully the state Governor, acts alleged to be in breach of the Cybercrimes Act.
Faced with the police invitation, Onajobi, through her lawyer, submitted a letter claiming she was medically unfit to attend. The letter was supported by a detailed medical report from a doctor, which listed several health challenges and treatments ostensibly preventing her appearance.
However, police investigations quickly unraveled the alleged deception. Discreet checks by the Command cast doubt on the authenticity of the medical document. This led to the arrest of the doctor named in the report.
Under questioning, the doctor reportedly confessed that the medical report was entirely fabricated. The physician stated that the document was created at the direct instruction of Adetoun Onajobi during a phone conversation, which was facilitated by her lawyer.
The doctor has since been arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges of conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstructing the course of justice.
With the medical alibi exposed, the police report states that Adetoun Onajobi has “remained evasive,” rebuffing subsequent invitations. Her current whereabouts are unknown, and the Police Command has vowed to “exhaust all lawful means” to apprehend her.
The blogger now faces a six-count charge before the Federal High Court in Abeokuta related to her alleged online activities. The police emphasize that their pursuit is part of a broader duty to tackle digital crimes, noting that constitutional protections for free speech “do not grant immunity from criminal conduct.”
The Command also confirmed it is trailing other suspects connected to what it describes as false information deployed by Onajobi to obstruct their investigation.
