The Ipokia Local Government contingent has been crowned the overall winner of the just-concluded Yewa Aworis Sports Festival held in Ota, Ogun State.
The Executive Chairman of Ipokia LG, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh (aka Cornerstone), commended the contingent for their outstanding performance during a reception held at the council’s conference hall on Wednesday.
Hon. Avoseh praised the athletes for securing first place in all competitions, describing their victory as a source of pride for the local government. He also acknowledged the contributions of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun (CON), toward sports development in the state.
The council boss expressed gratitude to the teachers, trainers, and coaches who prepared the pupils for the event. He urged the young athletes to remain dedicated to both their education and sports careers.
As a reward for their achievement, Hon. Avoseh presented the contingent with a financial gift and honored them with a ceremonial handshake.
During the event, Mr. Okunade Mutiu Sanni, Technical Officer of IPLG Primary School, Ikolaje, appealed for improved logistics and more local sports festivals to nurture budding talents. The chairman assured him of the council’s support in promoting grassroots sports.
The reception was attended by key officials, including the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Babajide Johnson Olushola; the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Emmanuel Pogbe; and the Supervisor for Education, Information, and Sports, Hon. Ayelade Kazeem Isola, among others.
The victory underscores Ipokia LG’s commitment to youth development and sports excellence in Ogun State.
