IJEBU NORTH EAST – In a significant move set to reshape the political landscape of Ijebu North East Local Government Area, prominent leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Olufemi Otenaike and Prince Wole Otenaike—a former State Leader of the PDP—alongside Mr. Segun Ayanyelu, have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The high-profile defection, which included over one hundred of their supporters, was formally sealed during a ceremony held at the APC Ward 10 Party Secretariat in Ijebu North East on Tuesday.

The decambers were warmly received by the Executive Chairman of Ijebu North East Local Government, Hon. Folusho Badejo, who was accompanied by the Local Government Party Chairman and other key leaders of the APC.

In his address, Prince Olufemi Otenaike articulated their collective decision, citing the compelling and laudable achievements of the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, as the primary reason for their political shift. He praised the Governor’s people-oriented leadership style and expressed their full readiness to integrate into the progressive fold.

The leaders pledged their total commitment to the ideals of the APC and promised to collaborate with existing party members to fortify the party’s structure, ensuring its continued growth and electoral success both within the local government and across Ogun State.

Receiving the new members, the Council Chairman, Hon. Folusho Badejo, described the event as a major boost for the APC. He emphasized that the vast political experience and grassroots influence of the new entrants would significantly enhance the party’s unity and strength at the grassroots level.

“We are delighted to welcome you all into our great party. Your decision to join the progressive family is a clear testimony to the good governance and inclusive leadership style of Governor Dapo Abiodun. Together, we shall continue to work towards delivering more dividends of democracy to our people,” Hon. Badejo stated.

The event witnessed a large turnout of jubilant APC faithful and supporters, who hailed the defection as a welcome development that will further consolidate the party’s dominance in the region ahead of future elections.
