ADO-ODO/OTA, Ogun State – The Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) has ramped up mobilisation across Ogun State, seeking active collaboration from traditional institutions and market associations to advance its women empowerment agenda.

The programme, which targets uplifting at least 105,000 women in the state, recently extended its sensitisation campaign to the Lusada International Market and key palaces in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

During a courtesy visit to the palace of the Onigboko of Orile-Igboko Igbesa, the Project Coordinator, Mrs Bolanle Fadairo, outlined the programme’s focus on enhancing women’s economic resilience through financial literacy, access to markets, technology adoption, and organised group structures.

Fadairo emphasised that the NFWP-SU is a non-political, community-driven initiative designed to build long-term capacity rather than provide short-term handouts.

“We encourage market women to organise into functional groups to fully benefit from this intervention. This five-year programme is structured to transition women from economic vulnerability to sustainable independence,” she stated.

She noted that beneficiaries in other implementation zones have already recorded significant improvements in income, savings, and business expansion, demonstrating the effectiveness of the model.

In response, the Onigboko of Orile-Igboko Igbesa, Oba Itu Yusuf Olasukanmi, and the Olodan of Oda, Odan-Abuja, Oba Nosiru Teslimi Ayinla, commended the initiative and pledged the full support of their domains.

The monarchs praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for prioritising women-focused development and assured that community leaders, market heads, and youth structures would be mobilised to ensure the programme’s success in the area.

The sensitisation team also visited the Lusada International Market, where traders welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness to participate actively in the empowerment programme.
