Abeokuta – The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has issued a firm directive to its accredited environmental consultants, emphasizing strict adherence to due process and due diligence in their professional duties.

The General Manager of OGEPA, Hon. Kehinde Bello, delivered the charge during an interactive meeting with registered consultants at the agency’s headquarters in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He warned against any form of compromise, urging the consultants to uphold the highest standards of integrity while advising industries across the state.

“As the statutory agency responsible for regulating environmental compliance and protection, we are committed to minimising environmental infractions and ensuring decisions are made transparently and within the environmental extant laws,” Bello stated.

He highlighted the pivotal role of the consultants in guiding industries to follow proper procedures, reinforcing OGEPA’s mandate to safeguard the environment.

Adding to the agency’s expectations, the Director of Laboratory Services, Mr. Abiodun Durojaye, reminded the consultants of the compulsory quarterly submission of Environmental Monitoring Reports. These reports must include comprehensive effluent analysis and air quality assessments conducted for their clients.

Earlier, Mrs. Adeola Sowunmi, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at OGEPA, in her welcome address, cautioned all industrial facilities in the state to comply with the agency’s directives to avoid sanctions.

Responding on behalf of the consultants, Dr. Opone Valentine, Managing Director of Accappocco Global, expressed appreciation for the engagement. He called for enhanced collaboration between the private consultants and OGEPA to achieve a sustainable and healthy environment for Ogun State.

The meeting underscores OGEPA’s intensified drive to enforce environmental regulations through a transparent and law-based framework, leveraging its network of accredited professionals.
