The Ogun State House of Assembly marked a significant milestone today, celebrating the first anniversary of its leadership change. Since the transition, the Assembly has made notable strides, passing 11 bills and 42 resolutions aimed at promoting peace, order, and good governance in the state.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide shared the Assembly’s achievements during a press conference at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He highlighted the legislature’s role as the bedrock of democracy, emphasizing the importance of symbiotic relationships among all arms of government.

– *Anti-land grabbing bill*: Passed and assented to by the Governor, this bill aims to curb land-grabbing activities in the state.
– *Anti-open grazing bill*: Also passed, this bill seeks to address herder/farmer clashes arising from open grazing.
– *Petitions and resolutions*: The Assembly received over 90 petitions and passed 42 motions into resolutions, addressing various issues affecting constituencies across the state.
Elemide expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their support over the past year and acknowledged the Assembly’s smooth operation despite a court case related to the leadership change, which was recently determined.
