Abeokuta- Top chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun Central Senatorial District have unanimously agreed to foster greater unity within the party and initiate an aggressive campaign to onboard new members via its digital registration platform.

The decision was a key outcome of a crucial stakeholders’ meeting convened on Monday at the Ibara GRA residence of a former Governor of Ogun State and party stalwart, Chief Olusegun Osoba.

Presiding over the gathering, the APC Senatorial District Chairman, Chief Sunday Sowunmi, underscored that internal cohesion and an inclusive leadership approach are indispensable for securing electoral victory in the 2027 general elections.

Key Decisions Reached
The forum issued a strong vote of confidence in both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. It further directed executives at the Local Government and Ward levels to institute regular monthly stakeholders’ forums and embark on an intensive mobilisation drive.

A primary focus will be to significantly increase membership figures through the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the party’s own e-membership revalidation exercise, which was declared the foremost priority for all party officials.

The leadership sternly warned against any conduct that could undermine party stability, asserting that all grievances must be addressed through established internal mechanisms and that individual aspirations must not override the collective interest of the APC.

A Gathering of Party Heavyweights
The meeting demonstrated the party’s formidable structure in the district, attracting a broad spectrum of its leadership.

Among the prominent figures in attendance were:

· Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu (Senator, Ogun Central)
· Hon. Isiaka Ibrahim (Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives)
· Hon. Moruf Afolabi Afape (House of Reps, Abeokuta South)
· Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Oludaisi Elemide (Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly)
· Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye (Commissioner for Women Affairs)
· Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat (Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs)
· Hon. Sofela Adebola (Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment)
· Engr. Taiwo Oludotun (Commissioner for Forestry)
· Chief Sunday Sowunmi (APC Senatorial Chairman)
· Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola (Former Ambassador to the UK)
· Senator Gbenga Obadara (Former Senator)
· Chief Bode Mustapha, MON (The Osi of Egbaland)
· Hon. Kunle Adesina (Former House of Reps Member)
· Chief Derin Adebiyi (Former State APC Chairman)
· Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun (Former Speaker, OGHA)
· Hon. Sikiru Ogundele (Former State APC Chairman)
· Hon. Kayode Amusa (Former House of Reps Member)
· Chief Tajudeen Lemboye (Party Leader)
· Hon. Adelani Yemi Taoreed (State Organising Secretary)
· Alhaja Abisola Aliyu (Senatorial Woman Leader)
· All six Local Government Party Chairmen, and other executive members and statutory delegates from across the district.

In his address, Chief Sowunmi described the meeting as a strategic effort “to provide feedback, strengthen cohesion, and energise the Ogun Central Caucus,” noting his satisfaction with the commitment shown towards the membership registration initiatives.

A communiqué detailing the resolutions was subsequently adopted and signed by the Senatorial Chairman on behalf of all stakeholders, signaling a renewed collective push to fortify the party’s dominance in the district.
