Otunba Bisi Oyedele, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly for Ipokia/Idiroko Constituency, has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the controversial deaths of four young gospel artistes.

The artistes, identified as Mathew Segun Ogundele (Segun Praise), Ojo Itunu Abike, Bolaji (Bobo), and Mathew Awosanya (Joes Media), died under what the lawmaker described as “deeply troubling” circumstances. Segun Praise was the son of Prophet Ogundele, Shepherd of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), Gethsemane Parish, Ogosa, in Ajegunle, Ipokia Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Monday, Oyedele, who is also Chairman of the House Committee on Industry, Trade and Investment, expressed “deep sadness and profound concern” over the tragedy. He highlighted the victims’ dedication to gospel ministry through music and media, noting they were “deeply committed to the service of the Most High God.”

“Their lives were cut short in circumstances that remain controversial,” the statement read. “This tragic incident calls for sober reflection and raises serious concerns that must not be ignored.”

Oyedele, operating under the moniker Citiside, has officially called on the Nigeria Police Force and all relevant security agencies to launch a “transparent and professional investigation” to establish the truth surrounding their deaths.

“I wish to clearly state that I will remain on top of this matter until clarity is achieved and appropriate action is taken,” he asserted, promising to ensure justice is served.

The lawmaker extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, Prophet Ogundele, the entire CCC Gethsemane Parish community, and the gospel music industry. He prayed for strength for the bereaved and for the peaceful repose of the departed souls.

The community awaits an official response from the police as calls for a conclusive investigation grow.
