The Assembly further passed a resolution urging the State Government to ensure indigenous participation in the divestment of Lafarge Cement Plc. Hon. Adebisi Oyedele, Chairman of the House Committee on Commerce and Industry, highlighted concerns over the potential sale of the company’s 83.8% stake to a Chinese firm, Huaxin Cement Co., warning of economic and environmental implications. Lawmakers called for prioritizing local investors and ensuring environmental accountability in Ewekoro and other affected communities.

Additionally, the Assembly passed a resolution for the rehabilitation of the Oke-Eri Road and Bilikisu Sungbon Tourist Centre in the Ijebu-North East Local Government Area. Sponsored by Hon. Oluseun Adesanya, the resolution aims to boost local commerce and tourism by improving infrastructure leading to the legendary tourist site.

The Ogun State House of Assembly continues to address critical issues affecting the state, from honouring late leaders to advocating for economic and infrastructural development.
