A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ipokia Local Government, Bishop Philip Koko, on Saturday declared Otunba Jimi Lawal as the most qualified of all the aspirants jostling to become the next governor of Ogun State.

Koko, who spoke during a consultative visit by Lawal to leaders and stakeholders of the party in Ipokia Local Government Area said, “It is a difficult decision to make for those of us from this part of Ogun State. We want one of our own to become the next governor. But we must not sacrifice quality and good governance on the altar of selfish desires.
“From what I have heard and seen about Otunba Jimi Lawal’s background, especially his experiences and academic achievements, there is none among tje aspirants, who want to ne governor of Ogun State that can match him. With Lawal at the helms of affairs in Ogun State, our economy and other areas of life will certainly receive a boost.
“If I am to pick a candidate for Ogun State APC, it is Otunba Jimi Lawal all the way. He is not from Yewa
But he is the very best among all those who want to contest today.”
Another leader, Mrs Folasade Fagbenro, was philosophical in her reaction. “We want the best material for Ogun State in 2019. Our prayer to God is that He will give Ogun State the best governor for tje sake of our people so that we can all enjoy quality dividends of democracy,” she said.
Lawal had earlier restated a pledge to pursue a policy of free and compulsory education for primary and secondary school students, adding that WAEC fees of final year students would also be borne by his administration.
According to him, “Education is very important for the socio-economic developent of any society. There can ne no peace and development witjout free and compulsory education. We must do everything possible to get all our people out of a life of illiteracy.”
However, Lawal pledged to evenly develop Ogun State without leaving any part untouched. “Development will ne spread round the state, not just one section alone. If Ogum State is not developed in a wholesome manner, we cannot experience real development.”
