IPOKIA – Marking the 50th anniversary of Ogun State, the Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, has emphasised unity and grassroots commitment as the foundation for the state’s next phase of development.

Addressing a gathering at the Ipokia Local Government Secretariat on Thursday, Chairman Avoseh reflected on the state’s journey since its creation in 1976, praising its resilience and its status as a national pacesetter in industry, education, and agriculture.
“The Golden Jubilee provides an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of our founding fathers and the collective efforts of our people,” Avoseh stated. He highlighted the need for renewed dedication to build on the state’s legacy of achievement.
The Chairman specifically commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for adopting an inclusive, decentralised approach to the anniversary celebrations, allowing all local governments to participate actively. This move, he noted, strengthens grassroots involvement in governance.
“As a Local Government, we remain committed to supporting the developmental strides of the State Government and to implementing initiatives that will improve the lives of our people,” Avoseh declared, expressing confidence that Ogun State’s next fifty years would be marked by greater innovation and prosperity.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, government officials, and stakeholders from across the council area.
Ogun State, created in 1976, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year with a series of events highlighting its cultural heritage and developmental milestones.
