The Chairman of the Ogun State Disabled Basketball Association, Hon. Adebowale Ojuri, has showered encomiums on the state’s para-basketball team following their spectacular outing at the recently concluded Ogun State Gateway Games, describing their performance as a true “Reward of Excellence.”

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ojuri celebrated the athletes for once again embodying the “true Ogun spirit of resilience, teamwork, and excellence.” Competing against the best in the state, the team delivered an impressive medal haul that has further cemented Ogun’s dominance in adaptive sports.

According to the official results, the contingent secured a remarkable three Gold medals across various categories. Ojuri noted that this achievement reaffirms Ogun State’s leadership in para-sports, attributing the success to the discipline and unity displayed by the players.

“These athletes demonstrated the burning desire to succeed against all odds,” the Chairman stated.

The Chairman reserved special praise for the technical crew, singling out Coach Keshy for his instrumental role in the team’s preparation. He acknowledged the coach’s technical expertise, motivation, and relentless drive, alongside the strategic planning and consistent training schedules that ensured the team was battle-ready.

Ojuri also extended the association’s profound gratitude to the Ogun State Sports Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He described their continued support as the “backbone” of the association’s success stories.

Looking ahead, Ojuri reaffirmed the association’s commitment to nurturing talent and improving facilities to ensure Ogun State remains a powerhouse on both national and international platforms.

“Together, we will continue to advance the cause of inclusivity, empowerment, and sporting excellence for persons with disabilities,” he added.

The athletes were hailed as true ambassadors of inclusivity, showcasing the power of ability in disability and bringing immense pride to the Gateway State.
