Oyinlola Vows to Stay in PDP, Accuses Tinubu of Fuelling Party Crisis

OKUKU — Former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has declared that he will not defect to the Accord Party alongside Governor Ademola Adeleke, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Oyinlola also alleged that President Bola Tinubu is the “unseen force” behind the internal crises rocking the opposition PDP.

The former governor made these remarks on Thursday during the second matriculation ceremony of the Alolade Oyinlola College of Health Sciences and Information Technology in Okuku, where about 90 students were formally admitted.

Oyinlola, a former military administrator of Lagos State, stated that he would remain loyal to the PDP unless the party “goes into extinction.” He insisted that President Tinubu is actively fuelling disputes within the PDP to weaken a major challenger ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“I won’t leave PDP unless it goes into extinction. I am not following Demola to Accord (Party). At my age, I can’t be pushed around. I’m gradually leaving active politics. I will be 75 in February 2026,” Oyinlola said.

He further claimed, “The problem would have been solved but for the interference of Tinubu. He sees PDP as a major challenge poised to his 2027 ambition. He doesn’t want to run, he wants to walk into the Villa.”

During the event, Oyinlola, who is the proprietor of the institution, addressed the newly admitted students, reiterating the college’s commitment to delivering quality education in health sciences and information technology.

“This institution is built on the core belief that quality health education and sound information management are essential pillars for sustainable development in Nigeria,” he said.

He encouraged the students to dedicate themselves to their studies, engage actively with their instructors, and build meaningful relationships that would shape their futures.

Governor Adeleke’s move to the Accord Party has stirred political realignments in Osun State ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election. Oyinlola’s public rebuff of the defection and his direct accusations against President Tinubu highlight the deepening fractures within the PDP and the escalating political tensions at the national level.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Presidency or the PDP regarding Oyinlola’s allegations.
