Senator Adeola Launches Second Edition of Free Health Programme for Ogun West Constituents

by Adebayo Kazeem

Over 10,000 residents of Ogun West Senatorial District and beyond are set to benefit from a four-day free health outreach programme organized by Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West). The initiative, which runs from Tuesday, March 11, to Friday, March 14, 2025, will take place simultaneously across the five local government areas (LGAs) of the senatorial district: Yewa South, Yewa North, Ado-Odo Ota, Ipokia, and Imeko Afon.

In a statement released over the weekend, Senator Adeola outlined the programme’s activities, which include free medical consultations, blood pressure screenings, malaria treatment with free drugs, eye screenings, free eyeglasses, health talks, and counselling. Additionally, beneficiaries will receive free medications for anaemia, pain, hypertension, diabetes, and arthritis, with a six-month supply provided for those in need.

Senator Adeola emphasized that the initiative is part of his commitment to delivering dividends of democracy beyond infrastructure and empowerment. “Good health is critical for enjoying other benefits of democracy,” he stated. “I have facilitated health infrastructure such as primary healthcare centres (PHCs), intensive care units (ICUs), ambulances, and drug provisions for hospitals. However, these resources can only be accessed when services are brought closer to the people.”

The decentralized format of the programme ensures that constituents in all five LGAs have access to healthcare services at four designated venues in each LGA. Senator Adeola urged all residents to take advantage of the initiative, describing it as an opportunity to address health challenges at no cost.

The first edition of the programme, held in 2023, was widely praised for its impact on the community. This second edition aims to build on that success, reaching even more constituents and addressing a broader range of health issues.

The programme is being implemented by a team of medical professionals who have been briefed on the logistics and objectives of the initiative. Senator Adeola expressed confidence in their ability to deliver quality healthcare services to the people.

Signed by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, the statement reaffirmed the senator’s dedication to improving the well-being of his constituents. “This health outreach is another step towards ensuring that the people of Ogun West enjoy the benefits of good health and quality healthcare services,” Odunaro said.

Residents are encouraged to visit the designated venues in their LGAs to access the free healthcare services. The programme is expected to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of thousands of constituents across Ogun West.
