JOGA-ORILE – The 2025 Obalaju Day Celebration held in Joga-Orile, Yewa North Local Government, turned into a major fundraising rally for community development, with prominent indigenes including Senator Adeola Olamilekan (Yayi) and the State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Jamiu Akande Omoniyi, making significant donations.

The event, themed “The Glory of My Fatherland,” was centred on the launch of a N500 million development fund aimed at completing the Ultramodern Palace for the Joga Kingdom.

In a notable show of support, Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi), represented by former Environment Commissioner Hon. Bolaji Oyeleye, announced a donation of N10 million towards the palace project. The Senator was commended by the event’s organisers for his history of facilitating transformative projects that have boosted the socio-economic landscape of the area.

Similarly, the Grand Patron of Obalaju Day 2025, Commissioner Jagunmolu Omoniyi, donated N5 million. His contribution was highlighted as a reaffirmation of his commitment to grassroots development and community-oriented initiatives.

The Abepa of Joga-Orile, Oba (Dr.) Adeyemi Olanrewaju Alani Adeleye, presided over the colourful ceremony, which was attended by a host of dignitaries. These included the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye; local government functionaries; APC chieftains; and community leaders.

In his royal address, Oba Adeleye expressed profound gratitude to the indigenes for their unity and support. He praised the state government’s infrastructural drive and lauded Senator Adeola for delivering “beyond electioneering promises.” The monarch also gave special recognition to Jagunmolu Omoniyi, noting that his excellence in public service has brought pride and honour to the kingdom.

Oba Adeleye used the opportunity to call for increased government investment and more developmental projects in Joga Kingdom, stating that the community’s development index has seen significant improvement in recent years.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Clement Kumapayi, earlier described the annual celebration as a vital platform for fostering unity and rallying collective efforts for the kingdom’s progress.

The event featured rich cultural performances and traditional displays, creating an atmosphere of joy and a renewed commitment to the development of Joga Kingdom.
