A motorcyclist, and two male school children were reportedly crushed to death along the Oru-Ago Iwoye Road on Friday by a truck.

The motorcyclist was said to be conveying the pupils to school on his bike at 7.30am when the tragic incident occurred.

Another female pupil who was also being conveyed to school on the same motorcycle by the motorcyclist was said to have sustained injuries in the accident.

The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Clement Oladele, said the accident occurred around 7.30am, on the bridge at Oru.

He said the driver of the truck was speeding and drove dangerously and in the process crushed the cyclist and the children.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, also confirmed the incident.

He said, “A male adult and two male school children were crushed to death by a truck while another female pupil was injured this morning along the Oru-Ago Iwoye Road.

“The cyclist was taking the children to school when the truck rammed into them.

“The injured female child was taken to Blessed Hospital, Oru, Ijebu Igbo, while the corpses of the victims were taken to the mortuary of the State Hospital, Ijebu Igbo.”

However, Oladele told our correspondent that a mob set the ill-fated truck ablaze.

He said the mob also set another truck that was not involved in the accident ablaze.

The police and the army were later called in to restore the peace and order.
