IFO, Ogun State – The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a notorious hired killer, described as the “most wanted vicious and notorious assassin” in Lagos in recent years. The suspect, identified as Wasiu Akinwande, also known as Olori Eso, was apprehended in a hideout in the Agbado area of IFO Local Government Area (LGA), Ogun State, during a coordinated tactical operation codenamed ‘Silence, Speed and Surprise’.
The 44-year-old suspect, known for terrorising Mushin and its environs, was tracked down after evading arrest in Lagos. According to the police, Akinwande is currently in custody under heavy security and will “face the full weight of the law for all his crimes.”
Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, stated in a release on Friday that the suspect led multiple deadly gangs responsible for over a decade of violent crimes, including armed robbery, murder, cult-related killings, and kidnappings.
“This serial killer suspect is the most wanted in Lagos’ history in recent times. His arrest marks a huge success in the ongoing fight against violent crimes threatening the security and safety of residents in Mushin and other parts of Lagos State,” Hundeyin said.
During the operation, a large cache of weapons and incriminating items was recovered from Akinwande’s residence. The suspect reportedly admitted to using the weapons for his criminal operations. The recovered items include:

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to lead an expanded investigation to arrest other suspects linked to Akinwande’s crimes.
