Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has revealed that Beyoncé paid him a staggering $5 million for his verse on the hit song “Brown Skin Girl,” despite his initial intention to contribute to the project for free.

In a recent interview, Wizkid shared that he viewed Beyoncé as a mentor and initially offered his contribution without financial expectations. However, Beyoncé insisted on compensating him for his artistry, asking him to name his price.

“When Beyoncé contacted me to feature on the song ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ I wanted to do it for free because I consider her a mentor, but she insisted that I get paid for my verse,” Wizkid revealed. “She asked me how much I wanted for my verse. I said any amount, and I was shocked she paid me $5 million.”

Beyond the substantial payment, Beyoncé also generously sponsored Wizkid’s travel expenses, covering his flight and hotel accommodations and even providing him with a car during his stay in the United States.
Wizkid expressed immense respect for Beyoncé, stating, “Beyoncé is a queen, someone I respect immensely. I will always respect it because my first Grammy was won with this collaboration.”

Wizkid, born in Ijebu Ode, Nigeria, to the Balogun family, continues to make waves in the global music scene with his groundbreaking collaborations and chart-topping hits.
