ABEOKUTA North – In a significant political realignment, over one hundred and fifty members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and other parties on Thursday formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.

The mass defection was orchestrated by a prominent APC chieftain in the state, Alhaji Yisa Ismaila Adebayo, popularly known as Omo-Ade. The event took place during an APC ward meeting in Ward 16, Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
Leading the new entrants, Omo-Ade described the move as a testament to the growing grassroots acceptance of the APC. He stated that the defectors were motivated by a belief in the party’s ideology, leadership, and commitment to good governance.
In a bid to strengthen party operations, Omo-Ade also donated a large megaphone to the ward executives to enhance communication during activities.
Addressing the defectors from the PDP, LP, and other parties, the chieftain admonished them to remain loyal, disciplined, and strictly abide by the APC constitution. He issued a strong warning against anti-party activities, emphasising that unity and commitment are vital for progress.
“The APC rewards loyalty and dedication,” Omo-Ade assured the new members, adding that faithful participants would enjoy the dividends of democracy as the party advances its governance agenda.
APC leaders at the meeting enthusiastically welcomed the defectors, hailing the development as a major boost to the party’s strength in Abeokuta North and Ogun State generally. They promised to fully integrate the new members and encouraged active participation in party affairs.
The event concluded with solidarity chants, party slogans, and a renewed commitment from members to work for the growth of the APC in the state.
