Chief Kayode Odunaro, the Chief of Staff to Senator Solomon Adeola, is set to be installed as the new Osorun of Isaga Orile in a ceremony scheduled for next weekend.
The installation will be performed by His Royal Majesty, Oba Joseph Oladele Olusoji Tella, the Onisaga of Isaga Kingdom, at the town of Isaga Orile in the Abeokuta North Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the Osorun Family, Chief Odunaro was nominated for the prestigious title by the Osurun Families, a decision which was subsequently accepted by the Isaga Orile Traditional Council.
The Osorun chieftaincy is one of the six kingmaker titles in Isaga Orile, a position exclusively reserved for descendants of the Osorun family. The title has remained vacant since the passing of the last holder, Chief Matthew Adisa Olojede Onifade—an uncle to Chief Odunaro—who died in 1988 after being installed in 1958. The title’s origins trace back to the historic Oyo Empire, from which the Isaga people migrated.
Chief Odunaro is no stranger to traditional honours. He has held the title of Baaroyin of Imalaland for 19 years, bestowed by Oba (Apostle) Adegboyega Olabode, and is also the Majeobaje of Olu Ilaro, a title given by Oba (Dr) Kehinde Olugbenle, the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland.
The upcoming installation highlights the enduring cultural heritage of Isaga Orile, which is recognizedrecognisedcestral home for Isaga communities dispersed across Ogun State, Lagos State, and the Benin Republic following the pre-colonial Dahomean War.
The ceremony is expected to draw dignitaries from across the region.
