LAGOS – Popular Nigerian skitmaker and content creator, Gloria Olorunto, popularly known as Maraji, has offered candid marriage advice, urging women to resist the temptation of comparing their real-life husbands to the idealized versions presented on social media.
The mother of two shared these reflections in a recent video, disclosing that early in her own marriage, she felt pangs of inadequacy seeing other men publicly shower their wives with praises and compliments online.
She revealed that these comparisons led her to question why her own husband did not express his affection in the same flamboyant manner, despite not being someone who naturally craves compliments.
Maraji emphasized a crucial point: “men are not the same,” and every relationship has its own unique dynamic. She elaborated that while some husbands demonstrate love through public posts and grand gestures like gift-giving, others express it through more private but equally significant acts of sacrifice, steadfast support, and daily care.
Using her personal experience as an example, Maraji detailed how her husband shows his devotion by working tirelessly to make her life stress-free. His actions include taking on approximately 90% of childcare responsibilities, which allows her to focus on her passions, such as vlogging and cooking.
“You can’t say that I’m a mum or the best child, but my husband loves me to de@th. He doesn’t allow anything to stress me. He takes care of the kids 90% of the time so that I can do what I love,” she stated.
The video has sparked conversations online, with many applauding her for promoting a more realistic and substantive view of marital love beyond social media performances.
