Controversial Nigerian street singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has claimed he is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta. This revelation comes after the Ogun State Police Command declared him wanted in connection with an alleged attack on officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The incident reportedly occurred at Odogwu Bar in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, where government officials were attacked during an enforcement exercise. Portable has since posted multiple videos on social media apologizing for the incident, which the police described as a violent act.

In a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Ogun State Police Command confirmed that a court order had been issued declaring Portable wanted. The statement read in part: “The Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted. Members of the public are strongly advised to assist the police by providing any valuable information that can lead to his immediate arrest. Anyone found aiding or harharbouringe suspect will face legal consequences.”

In response, Portable took to his Instagram page on Tuesday to appeal to Nigerians and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, insisting on his innocence. He claimed to have a medical record at Aro Psychiatric Hospital, stating, “I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients.”

The singer, who hails from Abeokuta, further emphasized his charitable nature, saying, “I am not a thief and have never done Yahoo [internet fraud]. I help people around me without even looking at their background.” He also attributed his current troubles to spiritual attacks, alleging, “Some persons are attacking me spiritually because I bought their lands and houses.”

The situation remains unresolved as the police continue their manhunt, while Portable maintains his claims of innocence and ongoing medical treatment.
