SAGAMU– A tailor in the Ajaka area of Sagamu, Mr. Saheed Oyewole, is counting his losses after robbers broke into his shop in the early hours of Sunday, making away with four sewing machines and customers’ materials valued at nearly one million naira.

The incident, which occurred at Aina Obey Street, was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command on Monday.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the victim reported the burglary at the Sagamu Divisional Police Headquarters after being alerted by a neighbour.

“He listed items stolen to include three sewing machines valued at N540,000, one industrial sewing machine valued at N400,000, and customers’ materials whose value is yet to be determined,” Odutola stated.

In response to the crime, the Divisional Police Officer for Sagamu led a team of officers to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment. The police have commenced discreet intelligence gathering in collaboration with the local vigilante group to track down the culprits and recover the stolen items.

Furthermore, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered increased patrols in the area to forestall further attacks.

The police commissioner also advised business owners and residents to remain vigilant, strengthen security around their premises, and promptly report any suspicious movements to the nearest police station. He urged the public to use the command’s official engagement platforms to share useful information that could aid crime-fighting efforts.
