OWODE-EGBA, Ogun State – The Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, has commended the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command, for its swift response to a viral video threatening an attack on the Ajebo community, while assuring residents of their safety.

The assurance follows a security scare caused by a social media video in which individuals, alleged to be herdsmen, claimed preparedness to launch an attack on the community.

In a statement, the Council Boss confirmed that a tactical team, deployed by the State Commissioner of Police, CP. Lanre Ogunlowo, has already combed the area and is maintaining surveillance. The operation was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations and included personnel from the Amotekun Corps, So-Safe Corps, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), local hunters, and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

“As a concerned government, we are confident in the dynamism of operation of the Nigeria Police Force and all other security agencies in the state and our local government in particular,” Ogunsola stated.

According to the security report, the combined team has conducted a thorough, intelligence-led assessment of Ajebo and its environs. Surveillance is currently focused on a forest area approximately 10 kilometers from the main community.

Amb. Ogunsola has therefore called on residents and village dwellers in Ajebo and surrounding areas to go about their lawful businesses without fear, confirming that the situation is under control.

To further strengthen security, an urgent meeting has been convened at the Local Government headquarters in Owode-Egba to examine and discuss lasting solutions to any potential security leakages.

The Chairman also commended the efforts of the Ogun State Government and Governor Dapo Abiodun in working to ensure the state remains safe and peaceful.

He further urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing necessary information that can aid their operations, reinforcing that “security business is a serious business.”
