ABEOKUTA — In a momentous shift within the social hierarchy and the leadership structure of Ogun State, Alhaji Chief Hon. Farouk Adeniyi Akintunde, Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Special Adviser on Environment has lately been elected the 25th President of the famous Lisabi Elites Club of Abeokuta.


The election was conducted during the club’s general meeting and Akintunde, a man of distinction with various awards including FHNR, FCSS, and FCAI, was admitted into the headship of the powerful socio-cultural and development-oriented association.
The Lisabi Elites Club, after the courageous warrior and the savior of the Egba tribe, Lisabi Agbongbo-Akala, is a top social group made up of the best doctors, businessmen, and public personalities from Abeokuta and the surrounding areas. It has a great impact on the community through development projects and it advocates for the community’s rights.
In his new capacity, Chief Akintunde is seen as the one who will direct the club’s activities towards achieving its goals of uniting people, promoting socio-economic projects, and maintaining the cultural heritage of the Egba people. His victory is viewed as a union of high-level government experience and traditional community leadership.
A very short message from the club confirmed the change of management and said that the new President was appointed without dissent by the members in acknowledgment of his service and position.
This appointment not only affirms Chief Akintunde’s power but also puts him in charge of one of the most prestigious elite societies in Abeokuta, all the while being a government adviser in Ogun State.
