Prince Femi Akinlawon, an aspirant to the Ogun State House of Assembly for Yewa North Constituency I, has urged Christians in the state to go beyond merriment during the Christmas season and use the period to fervently pray for Nigeria and those in leadership positions.
Akinlawon made the call in a Christmas goodwill message issued on Wednesday, stressing that the season, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, should be a time for deep reflection, compassion, and intercession for the nation.

According to him, while celebrations, family gatherings, and acts of charity are important, Christians must also remember the spiritual essence of Christmas by committing the country into God’s hands through prayers.

The House of Assembly aspirant noted that Nigeria is in dire need of divine intervention, urging believers to pray for peace, unity, and economic recovery across the country.

He also called on Christians to pray specifically for leaders at all levels of government, saying leadership comes with enormous responsibility and requires wisdom from God to deliver good governance.
Akinlawon “Christmas is not only about food, clothes, and enjoyment. It is a sacred period that reminds us of love, sacrifice, and hope.

“As Christians, we must seize this opportunity to pray earnestly for Nigeria, especially at a time when the nation is facing numerous economic and social challenges.
“Our leaders need God’s guidance now more than ever. We should pray that they are granted wisdom, compassion, and the fear of God to make decisions that will positively impact the lives of the people,” he stated.
Akinlawon added that prayers offered during the Christmas season could help redirect the nation towards the path of righteousness, justice, and sustainable development.
He further encouraged Christians to use the festive period to show love to the less privileged, noting that such acts reflect the true message of Christ’s birth.
“Let us extend hands of kindness to the poor, the widows, and the vulnerable among us. That is one of the practical ways to demonstrate Christ’s love this season,” he said.
The aspirant also urged residents of Ogun State to remain hopeful and united, assuring them that with collective prayers and positive actions, the country would overcome its current challenges.
