Abuja – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released a comprehensive schedule for its nationwide ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, culminating in a National Convention in early 2026.
The timetable, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, outlines a meticulous two-month process beginning in December 2025.
According to the schedule released from the party’s Buhari House National Secretariat, the activities will commence with a Membership E-Registration exercise, running from Monday, 1st December 2025 to Friday, 30th January 2026.
Key Highlights of the Schedule:
· Ward & LGA Congresses: The foundational elections at the Ward level are slated for Saturday, 14th February 2026, followed by Local Government Area Congresses on Thursday, 19th February 2026. Notably, each LGA is to elect three members to the National Convention, one of whom must be female.
· State Congresses: The election of State Executive Committees will be held on Saturday, 7th March 2026.
· Zonal Congresses: Scheduled for Saturday, 21st March 2026, these will be held across the six geopolitical zones in designated cities: Ibadan (South West), Enugu (South East), Rivers/Cross River (South South), Kaduna (North West), Gombe/Bauchi (North East), and Nasarawa (North Central).
· National Convention: The grand finale, where the party’s national leadership will be elected, is set for Wednesday, 25th to Saturday, 28th March 2026.
The schedule also includes windows for the purchase of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, and appeals committees at every stage to address grievances.
This exercise, conducted pursuant to Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution, is crucial for electing new party officials at all levels and setting the stage for the political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
