Imoru, Odogbolu – The ancient town of Imoru in Odogbolu Local Government Area has been thrown into mourning following the death of His Royal Highness, Oba Munirudeen Bashorun, the Orugbogbo of Imoruland. The monarch passed away at the age of 83.

According to family sources, the late traditional ruler will be laid to rest tomorrow, August 12, 2025, in accordance with Islamic rites.

The Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Dr. Babatunde Diya, has expressed deep sorrow over the monarch’s demise, describing him as a “pillar of peace and development.” In a statement, Dr. Diya extended his condolences to the people of Imoruland and the Bashorun royal family, praying for the repose of the late Oba’s soul.

Oba Munirudeen Bashorun ascended the throne decades ago and was widely respected for his wisdom, leadership, and commitment to the progress of his domain. His passing marks the end of an era for Imoruland.

Legal practitioner Barr. Gbenga Adeiye, who confirmed the monarch’s death, described it as a “great loss to the entire Yoruba traditional institution.”

As preparations for his burial begin, the community is expected to gather in large numbers to pay their last respects to the departed king.
