The Ogun State Government is moving to prosecute popular entertainer Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken, for his involvement in a serious vehicular incident in Sagamu on 1 November 2025.

The decision comes in the wake of a subsequent solo car crash in Lekki, Lagos State, yesterday, 23 November 2025, which authorities say is part of a dangerous pattern of behaviour.

According to a statement from the Ogun State Ministry of Justice, the initial incident on 1 November involved Mr Abiodun, who crashed into two motorcycles, seriously injuring a rider and a female passenger. The Ministry stated Mr Abiodun was “unremorseful and attempted to leave the scene,” an action that provoked a mob reaction from passersby.

While the Ogun State Police Command initially focused on investigating the crash and ensuring the victims received medical care, the State’s position hardened following yesterday’s event in Lekki. Officials report that the recent lone-car accident nearly harmed pedestrians, who only avoided injury due to their own quick reflexes.

This marks the third road crash involving Mr Abiodun in the last two months, raising public safety concerns.

In a significant shift in legal stance, the government stated that while many traffic collisions are treated as civil matters, some road users represent a “special danger to society” and must face criminal charges. The statement cited “organic outcry against his continued driving” as a factor, alongside the self-evident nature of the crashes, which were captured on video.

Consequently, the Attorney-General and Honourable Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, has directed officers to expedite action on the pending Sagamu case to ensure Mr Abiodun’s prompt arraignment. The Ministry confirmed it is working closely with the Police to bring the case before a court.
