AWKA – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed the arrest of three individuals on Saturday for allegedly engaging in vote buying during the Anambra State governorship election.



The suspects were apprehended across various polling units in the state. According to an EFCC statement, those arrested are Emeka Ilokasia at Ward 2 in Njikoka Local Government Area; Nwachukwu Loretta at Ward 2 (008) in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area; and Emeka Chukwudi in Umunachi village, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
The arrests were made in real-time as the operatives monitored the electoral process on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The anti-graft agency stated that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of its ongoing investigations. The move is part of a broader effort by security agencies to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and curb financial inducement of voters.
