The Chairman of Odeda Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Folasade Adeyemo has inaugurated a committee tasked with overseeing the collection of community rates, house numbering, and street naming within the local government area. The committee, comprising representatives from Community Development Associations (CDAs) and local government functionaries, is expected to facilitate the implementation of policies aimed at improving revenue generation and addressing the challenges of locating houses through verbal descriptions.
During the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Adeyemo charged the committee to remain active and committed to their assigned duties. She emphasized that the initiative is designed to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the local government while modernizing the process of locating addresses. According to her, the era of describing house locations verbally should become a thing of the past, as the new system will enable seamless address identification using street names and digital tools like Google Maps.
The committee will operate under the local government’s established policies, ensuring transparency and efficiency in its operations. Hon. Nasir Yaya, Chairman of the committee, assured the council boss of the committee’s readiness to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to achieve the set objectives.
Comrade Emmanuel Iyasere, Chairman of the Area Community Development Committee (AC/DC), also expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as innovative. He pledged the commitment of his team to work diligently alongside other committee members to ensure the success of the project.
The committee includes key figures such as Hon. Adigun Yaya Nasiru (Vice Chairman) as Chairman, Mr Oyekunle Adebayo (Secretary to the Local Government), Hon. Monsuru Arabode (Councilor representing Ward 8, Alabata), and other directors and heads of departments. Community representatives, including Chief Elijah Ekundayo and Alhaji Tajudeen Odelade, are also part of the committee, with Mr. Isiaq Yusuff serving as the Member/Secretary.
