Abeokuta – The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has sealed a bakery and a church in Abeokuta for violating the state’s environmental laws.

The affected establishments are Imole Ayomi Bakery, located along Abiola Way in the Asero area, and the End-Time Grace Apostolic Church at Ago-Oko.

According to a statement from the Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA, Hon. Farouk Akintunde, the bakery was sealed for causing air pollution, which poses serious consequences for public health. The church, however, was shut down for noise pollution, described as a threat to public health and a disruption to community peace.

Akintunde, who also chairs the Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, revealed that both entities were sealed after ignoring prior warnings from the agency.

“These places were sealed for failing to adhere to environmental standards despite receiving prior warning from OGEPA,” Akintunde stated.

The OGEPA boss reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to creating a healthier and more sustainable environment for all residents. He encouraged members of the public to report any observed environmental violations to OGEPA to aid in safeguarding the environment.

The enforcement action signals the state government’s continued crackdown on environmental infractions to ensure compliance with established laws.
