Abeokuta – In a significant move to bolster women’s economic and social empowerment, the Ogun State Government has officially inaugurated the State Technical Committee (STC) for the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU).
The inauguration, which took place at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, marks a strategic step towards deepening institutional collaboration and ensuring sustainable impact on the livelihoods of women across the state.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, who inaugurated the committee, highlighted its composition as a “formidable coalition” of experts. The committee includes representatives from key ministries such as Agriculture, Finance, Industry, Trade and Investment, and Education, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and value-chain associations.
According to Adeleye, this diverse membership reflects an intentional, integrated approach to dismantling the economic barriers facing women and reaffirms the present administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women, particularly at the grassroots level.
The Commissioner attributed the state’s success in the first phase of the project, which earned Ogun national recognition, to the collective effort of all stakeholders. She charged the new committee members to perform their duties with renewed zeal and professionalism, stating, “We are custodians of a legacy, and the confidence reposed in us must not only be justified but surpassed excellently.”
Adeleye also commended the visionary leadership and steadfast commitment of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, to women’s development, noting that his administration’s support has positioned Ogun State as a national model for gender-responsive policy.
The committee’s responsibilities will include providing technical guidance, reviewing budgets, ensuring proper fund utilization, and monitoring the project’s impact.
In her response, a committee member and representative from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs. Ojikutu Gloria, commended the state government for its support, pledging that the committee would build on the successes of the first phase.
