ABEOKUTA – The Anti-Robbery Squad of the Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a suspected armed robber and seized two pump-action rifles in a swift operation based on credible intelligence.
The suspect, identified as Adenekan Segun, popularly known as “Expensive,” was arrested on Sunday, 14th December 2025. Police operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) acted on intelligence which revealed that Segun was in illegal possession of the firearms. Reports indicated that the suspect had allegedly brandished the weapons during a minor dispute.
The operation successfully led to his arrest and the recovery of the two firearms. According to a statement released on Friday, 20th December 2025, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the recovered rifles. The suspect is to be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
The State Commissioner of Police has praised the operatives for their prompt action and reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy towards armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms. He reassured residents of the Command’s dedication to maintaining peace and security while urging the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police.
