REST IN PEACE! Veteran actor, Ignis Ekwe, is dead

Veteran Nollywood Actor, Ignis Ekwe, is dead.

Ignis EkweHis death was confirmed by his daughter,Susan Emike Ekwe, also known as Harmonee on her Instagram page. She wrote,

“Am speechless will this wound ever heal.”

The thespian, who played iconic roles in “Cockcrow at Dawn”, “Igodo” and other epic movies, reportedly died in Benin on Monday after a brief illness.

Expressing shock at the sad news Yvonne Jegede wrote on her Instagram page.

“My heart is bleeding, my heart is heavy. Who do I question?? Who do I blame?? The inevitable has struck again. #2ndJuly2018 #ADateToRemember.
RIP Uncle Ignis Ekwe. Nollywood veteran.

“Your little girls will miss you soooooooo much. Nollywood loses a gem. We have lost a rare one.

“My eyes are clouded, I want to scream but I can’t find my voice. #IgnisEkwe (Everyday People, Behind The Clouds, CockCrow At Dawn, Igodo and many more) #2ndJuly2018 #ADateToRemember. Rest In Peace.”

Ekwe was a native of Fuga in Edo State where he had both primary and secondary education.

In 1982, the late actor graduated from the University of Benin where he studied Theatre Arts. He proceeded to get a Master’s Degree from the University of Jos.

Before going into full-time acting, the late actor worked as a Consultant for United Nations Children Educational Fund (UNICEF).

Before his death, Ignis Ekwe was a lecturer at the Departmentof Mass Communications, Auchi Poly In Edo State.

Ekwe was popular for classic productions such as “Igodo,” “The Price,” “Everyday People” among ogthers.

May his soul rest in peace.
