Iperu-Remo, Ogun State – In a shocking turn of events, the traditional ruler of Iperu-Remo, Oba Adeleke Basibo, the Alaparu of Iperu-Remo, has reportedly passed away. The monarch, who was said to be in good health and not suffering from any known illness, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 7, 2025.

Kabiyesi died at the age of 67.

The news of his sudden demise has left the community in deep mourning, as Oba Basibo was actively involved in the affairs of the town until his passing. Just days before his death, on Monday, February 4, 2025, he presided over the installation of new chiefs at his palace, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the development and cultural preservation of Iperu-Remo.

Oba Adeleke Basibo, a respected and beloved leader, was known for his dedication to the progress of his people and the promotion of Yoruba traditions. His reign was marked by peace, unity, and significant strides in community development.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, but sources close to the palace confirmed that he showed no signs of illness prior to his passing. The royal family and the town’s chiefs are expected to release an official statement soon, while preparations for traditional rites and burial ceremonies are underway.

As the people of Iperu-Remo come to terms with this sudden loss, tributes have begun pouring in from across the state and beyond, honoring the late monarch’s legacy of leadership and service.

May his soul rest in peace.
