In a significant move to support education and empower young minds, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, has provided free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to over 1,000 indigent students in his constituency. This marks the second time the senator has initiated such a program, underscoring his commitment to promoting educational excellence and creating opportunities for underprivileged students.

The beneficiaries, carefully selected through a transparent and inclusive process, hail from the six Local Government Areas (LGAs) within Ogun Central Senatorial District. The selection process involved collaboration with community development associations, political groups, religious bodies, and other stakeholders. Priority was given to students who have completed secondary school education, achieved a minimum of five O’level credits in no more than two sittings, and demonstrated academic potential but lacked the financial resources to pursue higher education.

In a statement from his media office, Senator Salisu highlighted the importance of education as a transformative tool for personal and national development. He cited his own journey as an example, attributing his success, including his role as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to the power of education. The initiative also aligns with and supports the educational policies of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, whose administration has prioritized improvements in the state’s education sector.

“Senator Salisu recognizes the pivotal role education plays in nation-building and views this gesture as a strategic investment in the future intellectual capital of the Senatorial District, Ogun State, and the nation at large,” the statement read. “Our focus is on the outcome—ensuring that this initiative is not just for public acclaim but one that genuinely helps beneficiaries advance to the next level in their academic pursuits. We will closely monitor their progress to ensure the program’s success.”

Senator Salisu urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity and strive for academic excellence. He also promised to roll out more educational initiatives in the future, reaffirming his dedication to the development and empowerment of his constituents.

The initiative has been widely praised as a impactful step toward breaking down financial barriers to education and nurturing the next generation of leaders in Ogun State.
